| Notes | For a while now I have chosen 36 photos (3 pages of 12) to present
here after each convention. That seems enough to provide some nice photos
without boring too many people.
This time, I have included an extra, fourth page; see the below notes for Page 4 for details. On the Saturday night at this event, I dropped my camera! Amazingly, the camera itself was completely undamaged, but my 550 EX flashgun was rendered inoperable. :( Fortunately for me, the stage lights on Sunday (when I typically photograph the guests on stage) were awesome, so I didn't really need a flash at all. :) PAGE 1: On Saturday afternoon a surprise guest, Alexander Siddig, joined Andrew Robinson on stage for half an hour or so. Given short notice, I got what photos I could. '04Siddig'. '05Siddig_Robinson' & '06Siddig_Robinson' are the best of what I got. The fancy dress compeition on Saturday night sported several noteworthy entries. The three finalists can be seen in '07FancyDress'. Though "Jack Sparrow" won, I think that "Tron" ought to have prevailed (though Kathy's "Trance Gemini" caught my attention for obvious reasons). Five new Celebrity Jedi Chef Apprentices were recuited over the weekend, 4 within a 20 minute period on Saturday night. I took at least two photos of each, subsequently selelecting the one most suitable for the Jedi Chefs site. '08Smallwood' is Tucker's other JCA photo. NOTE: After a break of almost one and a half years, I have decided to run another Caption Competition. PAGE 2: '20Smallwood' and '24Acovone' show two of the ducks that are "explained" below. PAGE 3: For no adequately explored reason, the front of the Sunday stage was lined with many yellow ducks that had been lifted from numerous hotel rooms. As was the plan, the guests were utterly bamboozled by this development! Several of these ducks can be seen in '25ducks'. During his time on stage on Sunday, John Novak sunjected the audience to some noise by virtue of his penny whistle, as captured in '27Novak'. By contrast, Peter Williams' harmonica piece, as seen in '30Williams', was rather tuneful. Late on Sunday night, Peter Williams joined a few of us Jedi Jedi chefs outside for some lightsaber dueling. '36Williams' is an example of this. PAGE 4: The photos on this page are from the eleven photosessions on Saturday morning. After getting my "daft" photos from the "Kevin Sorbo Event", I resolved to continue to avoid the "usual" photosession results. To that end, I secured permission to take several Jedi Chef ranged weapons through the photosessions. I liked the results and planned to use at least a few here, but having been unable to decide which few to present, I decided to display all eleven on this extra, fourth page. Thank you very much to Mr. Rob Drake for taking these photosession photos for me. |

Caption Competition V: Assault Mission

Firstly, thanks to Rob Drake for taking the photo. A friend remarked that John Novak and me look like we are really on some sort of mission in this photo. He suggested that I feature it in a Caption Competition. So, here it is! As me and John spot our objective (whatever or whoever that might be) and prepare to engage, just what might John be quietly telling me?
This fifth caption competition closed on 24th. October, 2004. I read through the various entries and selected the winner. The above picture was updated to reflect the winning caption. The winner, Dave Taylor, has been notified of his success, and will receive a nice, large print of the above photograph, including their winning caption, in due course.
As always, Thank You to everyone who submitted one or more entries.
Important Note: final rights to the photo used in the above image belong to Rob Drake. In using this image I realize that I have not secured the explicit permission of John Novak (or anybody else concerned) to use his image in this way. However, I sincerely believe that, since the 'caption competitions' are ran purely for fun, that John won't mind at all. If he or anyone else involved has any objection to me using this photo in this or any other way then they should simply let me know and I will remove the image from this web site immediately. I hope that everyone realizes that these caption competitions were and are just a bit of fun.
