Dates 16th - 18th March, 2001
Venue Heathrow Park Hotel, London, England
Organizers Sean Harry / Starfury Conventions
Guests Robin Atkin Downes, Nadia Cameron, Jerry Doyle, Von Flores, Elizabeth Gracen, Lisa Howard, Robert Leeshock, Rick Linnehan, Lani Tupu
Notes Another party-infested Starfury event!
Richard Chevolleau was scheduled to attend but a late work commitment kept him from the party. A pity.
Anyone who has attended previous Starfury or Wolf 359 conventions will know what picture 11 (the "Spice Bunnies") is all about.
Picture 13 on page 2 shows Lisa Howard training attendees how to power-up an "Earth: Final Conflict" Taelon ID Shuttle.
The fellow in picture 27 on page 3 is Rick Linnehan. Rick is a genuine NASA astronaut. He has been on two shuttle missions, first in 1996 and again in 1998, and he is due to return to space later in 2001. It was great to meet the 'real thing'.
The unsavoury type, 'Slash', captured in picture 32 on page 3 had "Highlander, the Raven"'s Nadia Cameron & Elizabeth Gracen a little worried as he edged his way towards the stage. There was, however, little danger, as he was in fact one of the other guests in disguise. Can you tell who?
Make sure to take a look at the second "Caption Competition".

Caption Competition: The Return
Caption Competition: The Return

I held a second "Caption Competition" to invite anyone to suggest what Robert Leeshock, pictured above, might have been saying when the photograph was taken. A (rather extended) time after the competition closed, I considered all of the entries received and choose the winner based on spelling errors and number of round letters in the words. I then updated this page and informed the winner, who was in fact 'Sean Harry'. As in the previous year, I was attracted to the sleazy quality of the entry.

If you click on the above image in your web browser you should receive a high resolution, higher quality version that should be good enough to produce decent-sized photographic prints from. Please note that it is a much larger file, around 416 Kilobytes, and will therefore probably take a while to download fully.

I did not choose an official 'runner-up' entry this time because, if I'm being honest, I was too busy preparing for Christmas, and couldn't be bothered anyway.

Thank You again everyone who submitted one or more entries.

Important Note: final rights to all images belong to the people represented in them. In using this image I realize that I have not secured the explicit permission of Robert Leeshock (or anybody else concerned) to use his image in this way. However, I sincerely believe that, since the 'caption competitions' are ran purely for fun, and since Robert seems to agree with having fun, that he won't mind at all. If he or anyone else involved has any objection to me using this image in this or any other way then they should simply let me know   and I will remove the image from this web site immediately. I hope that everyone realizes that this really was and is just a bit of fun.
