| Dates | 28th - 30th November, 2003 |
| Venue | Thistle hotel, Heathrow, England |
| Organizers | Starfury Conventions |
| Guests | Thomas Burr, Steve Carlson, Christian Kane, Neil Roberts, Stephanie Romanov |
| Notes | Probably because 4 of the original
6 guests booked to appear at this event had to cancel due to work commitments,
not as many attendees as expected were present at this convention. I didn't
mind this; I much prefer the 'quieter' events.
PAGE 1: I didn't witness any of the guests' talks on Saturday and Christian Kane had to leave that night due to work commitments, so I didn't get many photos of him. Consequently I decided to scan and use the photo that Dave Sumner took of Christian & me in the Saturday morning photo session ('01Kane.jpg'). The theme for Friday's party was "Law and Order". In '02Police.jpg', Starsky & Hutch join a couple of British bobbies to help protect the peace. At every convention we make at least one attempt to construct a tower on our table. '03Tower.jpg' shows the result of Friday night's efforts; the tower could not be extended higher because the smallest glass that the bar could provide would not fit between the top of our tower and the ceiling. The height was increased slightly be crowning the tower with a folded Jedi Chefs card. The band, "Kane", comprising of Steve Carlson and Christian Kane, played a set before Saturday night's party. They can be seen mid-performance in '05KaneBand.jpg'. On Saturday night we went outside to take a few photos featuring our luminescent lightsabers. We had hardly started when Stephanie Romanov and Christian Kane came out, heading for the main part of the hotel. Christian asked to try one of the 'sabers, and before long Stephanie had the other. They 'duelled' for several minutes, cheered on by the crowd that had rapidly gathered. '07Duel.jpg' and '08Duel.jpg' depict this action. Other media secured during this activity is reserved for use on the Jedi Chefs web site. PAGE 3: During the closing ceremony, Thomas read out a short poem ('35Poem.jpg'). Unfortunately I do not recall any of it! At the end of the closing ceremony, Neil Roberts wandered around the room, offering the microphone to a string of attendees so that they could take part in a karaoke rendition of the song, "Mandy". At our table, he pushed the mic in front of our man Roddy, as can be seen in '36Karaoke.jpg'. |
